Nativity’s Community Garden

by Emilie Sigel

At Church of the Nativity we believe that our faith in Jesus, our reverence for the earth, and our service to others are deeply woven together in our life of faith. We seek a connection to God through our connections with one another, through caring for the natural world, and through an examination of our interior life. All these things are a form of prayer.  —The Reverend Stephanie Allen

The Nativity Community Garden is a hands-in-the-ground embodiment of this statement of faith. Throughout the summer the gardeners have planted, tended, and harvested fresh organic produce from their plots next to the Education Building. Weekly deliveries to nearby clients of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle have been made, building food security, building community. If you are interested in participating in this year-round effort, please contact Carl Sigel at cwsigel@aol.com.
